GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Mar. 4, 2014) — City Manager Gred Sundstrom hopes Grand Rapids residents continue to cooperate with the city’s special efforts to clear piles of snow from neighborhood streets.

“Residents have been very cooperative in removing their vehicles from the streets so our plow trucks can be most effective,” Sundstrom said in a release that announced the latest rounds of plowing and hauling snow.

A major motivation to clear streets narrowed by snow berms is to give more efficient access to emergency vehicles when they are needed. The city chooses streets for clearing based on imput from resident reports, neighborhood associations, the police department, and the fire department.
