generic police lightsISABELLA COUNTY, Mich. (March 5, 2014) — Police said three vehicles were struck by a pick-up truck in Isabella County Wednesday before they were able to box in the vehicle and arrest the driver.

According to a press release from Shepherd Police, the truck was stopped near the M-20 off ramp on northbound US-127.

Before police were able to box in the truck, they said that the driver exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour and struck three vehicles along the highway.

No injuries were reported.

The incident began at about 3:15 p.m. in Coe Township.  Minutes after the initial reckless driving report, dispatchers received calls that the truck had hit two vehicles near the East Pleasant Valley overpass.

They then allegedly rear-ended a third vehicle near the East Blanchard Road overpass.

By the time officers caught up with the vehicle, it had heavy front-end damage and a blown-out front tire and was only traveling at about 30 miles per hour, according to a release.

The driver continued down the highway for a couple of miles before officials boxed in their truck.  They were arrested on charges of causing an accident and failing to stop, fleeing and eluding and operating under the influence of alcohol.

A passenger was also in the truck when officials stopped it, but they did not say what charges that person would face.

The driver’s name will be released when they are formally arraigned.
