Two Vehicle Crash In Montcalm Co. Takes The Life Of A Greenville Man

LAKEVIEW, Mich. (March 16, 2014)-  A 72-year-old man from Greenville died today after a crash in Montcalm County Sunday morning.

According to the Michigan State Police, the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. A 2001 Chevy Malibu was travelling north on Youngman Rd. just south of Lakeview when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at M-46 and struck an eastbound 2009 Chevy HHR. The Malibu was driven by a 72-year-old man from Greenville, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Chevy HHR was driven by a 54-year-old man from Lakeview, only had minor injuries. His passenger a 63-year-old man from Coral was taken to Kelsey Memorial Hospital in Lakeview with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the HHR were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Michigan State troopers are continuing to investigate the incident.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time.
