CALEDONIA, Mich. (March 20, 2014) — Students at Paris Ridge Elementary School learned the value of their fire drills when they were forced to evacuate due to smoke in the building.

Just after school began, one wing of the building filled with smoke and set off the fire alarms.

All students were evacuated as per their evacuation drills. While they waited for fire personnel took care of the problem, school buses were brought in to permit the students to wait in warm buses.

The source of the smoke was determined to be a burned motor, and after 40 minutes or so, the school was cleared and students went back to class.

Everything was back to normal by 10 a.m.
