EAST LANSING, Mich. – The following news release was sent to FOX 17 regarding an assault on the campus of Michigan State University:

The Michigan State University Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred when a 19-year-old female student was attacked at 12:30 a.m. March 23 at Beal Street and West Circle Drive. The incident was reported to MSU Police on March 25.

Police said the victim was assaulted as she walked to Yakeley Hall. The victim said she observed two men standing at the bus stop, and as she walked past them, they began to follow her.

She said one of the men walked up behind her and grabbed her wrist. The victim said she struggled with the man, at which time he hit her in the face with an unknown object. The victim, who suffered minor injuries, told police when the men saw an approaching car that they walked away toward the Sparty statue. She then ran to Yakeley Hall.

The student described the first suspect as a black male, college age, muscular build, about 6 feet tall, and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a ball cap turned backward, light colored t-shirt, tan pants and a black G-Shock watch.

She was unable to describe the second suspect.
