Suspect in Custody Following Grand Rapids Shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (April 2, 2014) – Grand Rapids Police say a suspect is in custody following a morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers responded to the incident just after 11:00 a.m. near Broadway Avenue and Myrtle Street.

Witnesses told police a man opened fire at a group of people in the area.

Shortly after the shooting, a man showed up at a downtown hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  His current condition hasn’t been released.

The suspected shooter’s name hasn’t been released.  The investigation has been given to the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
