payne dunkDALLAS, Texas (April 4, 2014) — Michigan State’s Adreian Payne brought fans to their feet during the Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship on Thursday night.

His double-clutch, heel-touching 360 slam — along with his two other dunks — earned him third place in the contest.  Marcus Lewis from Eastern Kentucky came in first place, while Baylor’s Corey Jefferson finished second.

What makes Payne’s efforts even more memorable is what happened before and after his perfect-40-score slam.  Prior to the leap, he took the ball over to 8-year-old Lacey Holsworth.  She’s battling cancer, and has become friends with the MSU star.  Following the jam, there was a bowling celebration that put the icing on the cake.
