KALAMAZOO, Mich. (April 7, 2014) — Lawyers for a family seeking a civil suit against Bronson Healthcare claim the health care provider is failing to take responsibility in the sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl at the Bronson Athletic Club.

The girl, says a release from Johnson Law PLC, was sexually assaulted in 2012 by a teen counselor at the club’s day camp, and the family has filed a civil suit. The Bronson Athletic Club is owned and operated by Bronson Healthcare.

Attorneys for Bronson were scheduled Monday afternoon to request a judge dismiss the suit. Judge Alexander Lipsey of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Kalamazoo is to hear the request.

The family says the girl was lured by the counselor into a closet and assaulted. The release quoted lawyer Ven Johnson as saying “it is shocking and disappointing that a leader focused on community and children is failing to step up and take responsibility for this tragedy.”
