GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (April 8, 2014) — Former first lady Rosalynn Carter will head to West Michigan for a luncheon that will commemorate what would have been fellow former first lady Betty Ford’s 96th birthday.

The JW Marriott will host the event at noon in the International Ballroom. The program is called America’s First Ladies: A Journey of Friendship. Steve Ford, the son of President and Betty Ford will lead the event with Carter.

A second event, a panel discussion called Betty Ford’s Legacy in Women’s Heath, will start at 2 p.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum auditorium. It will focus on Ford’s breast cancer diagnosis, and how it changed the conversation about women’s health.

If you would like tickets for the luncheon or to register for the panel discussion, call the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation at 616-254-0396 or go to their website.
