OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – Burglars struck an Allendale Township store early Tuesday morning and investigators believe it may be part of a larger crime ring in West Michigan and across the state.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department released surveillance video Tuesday afternoon of the break-in at the Sprint Store, 5135 Lake Michigan Dr., Allendale Township.
Deputies responded to a break-in and alarm at 7:05 a.m. When they arrived, deputies saw the back door were busted open, but nobody was inside. A ‘large amount’ of iPhones and smartphones were stolen, said authorities.
On surveillance video, five people can be seen scattering through the store. It took the thieves only two minutes to steal what they wanted then get away before deputies could arrive.
On March 22 in Kent County, there was a similar-looking scene in Lowell when burglars struck a Verizon store on a Saturday morning. Investigators aren’t saying if the cases are connected.
