BATTLE CREEK, Mich (April 9, 2014) – An elderly man has died after what appears to be a brush burning accident in Battle Creek.

Officers were called to an area near Sonoma Road and South Minges Road after calls came in for a large fire in the area.

First responders located a 93-year-old man who was unresponsive.

Investigators say it appears the man was attempting to burn some brush in the area when the tractor he was on nearby caught fire.  He was also severely burned and didn’t survive.

Investigators say neighbors that spotted the fire were able to put the flames out.

The Battle Creek Police Department is still investigating.
