traffic light outROCKFORD, Mich. (April 13, 2014) — A very eerie feeling as you drive up and down Northland Drive (M-44) Sunday morning after storms tore through the area, leaving much of West Michigan in the dark. At the 10 Mile intersection in Rockford, FOX17 witnessed many drivers blowing through the intersection, because in many cases, not even the blinking lights are working and it is very difficult to notice the blacked out lights until you are already passing through.

All of the businesses in the 10 Mile area are also in the dark, so plan accordingly for groceries or gas.

FOX17 spoke with a Kent County 911 dispatcher who wanted us to pass the word along about treating these intersections as four-way stops.  Please pass the message along to your friends and family who may be heading out, especially prior to sunrise.
