MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – (April 17, 2014) – Passengers on board an Amtrak train bound for Michigan were delayed Thursday after the train struck a person on the tracks.

Cassie Beebe, a passenger heading to Kalamazoo, told FOX 17 News Thursday evening that, “Amtrak Train 364 just hit someone in Michigan City, Indiana. I’m on-board headed to Kalamazoo. Sad.”

Beebe said on the FOX 17 Facebook page, “According to Amtrak personnel we struck a predestination (sic). I heard a noise and felt a bump before we stopped. Everyone on board is patiently awaiting news in their seats.  Most of the bathrooms are working just not the ones in my car.”

The Blue Water Line runs between Chicago and Port Huron, Mich.

An Amtrak spokesman told FOX 17 NEWS that the train was delayed for 1 hour and 25 minutes after a trespasser on the tracks was struck. He said there were no injuries aboard the train, which soon continued on to Kalamazoo and then Port Huron.

The condition of the person who was struck is not known. However, the Amtrak spokesman said that person was not killed.
