KALAMAZOO, Mich. (April 18, 2014) — Two suspects are in custody after reportedly firing shots into the air, the result of a random confrontation with two people who had just returned home from work.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, officers in Kalamazoo were called to the area of Race Street and Clinton Avenue in the Edison neighborhood, for reports of shots fired.  As they approached the area, they saw two subjects running from the area.  One of them had an object slung over his back.

After a short foot pursuit, both suspects were taken into custody.  Officers then searched the area and found two weapons that had been discarded: a .357 handgun that was stolen out of Portage, and an AK-47-style rifle.

Police then spoke with two people who lived in the area, who advised they had just returned home from work when they were confronted by two men with guns.  They said the suspects fired multiple times into the air.

The suspects are 20 and 21 years old, both from Kalamazoo.  They will face multiple charges, including Felonious Assault.
