WEST MICHIGAN — (Apr. 19, 2014) Some call it spring while others call it allergy season. A late start to spring this meant a late start to allergy season but after a few weeks of warmer temperatures and sunshine has allowed the blooming of plants and flowers creating a large increase in pollen.
Conditions this weekend will be favorable for one of the first weekends of increased pollen levels. Warm temperatures and slightly breezy winds will increase pollen into the high category and will increase even further by Sunday.
The predominant pollens right now are from trees, specifically: birch, ash and poplar. Light rain Monday will help decrease levels slightly.
