Datsyuk’s Late Goal Leads Red Wings Over The Bruins

redwingsBOSTON, MA (April 19, 2014)- Pavel Datsyuk’s goal with 3:01 left in the 3rd period gave the Red Wings a 1-0 win over the Boston Bruins in game one of their Stanley Cup Playoff series.

The Bruins out shot the Red Wings 25-24, but Jimmy Howard was able to stop all 25 Boston shots on his way to a shut out, Tuukka Rask stopped 23 of 24 shots for the Bruins.

Four former Grand Rapids Griffins saw their first game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Riley Sheahan, Luke Glendening, Tomas Tatar and Tomas Jurco.

On Saturday, the NHL announced that they have fined Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic $5,000 for spearing Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser between the legs.

Game 2 of the series is slated for Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Boston.

The Red Wings lead the series 1-0.
