GRFD Rescue Man From An Island In The Grand River

Grand RiverGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (April 19,2014)- A man had to rescued from Punk Island on the Grand River after jumping into the Grand River, Saturday afternoon.

According to officials at the scene the man was fishing in the river and then jumped in. The man was able to get to Punk Island, where water rescue crews were able to rescue the man and then take him to a local Grand Rapids hospital.

Police on the scene did say that alcohol played a role in the man jumping into the river.

Punk Island is located on the Grand River between Market St. and Wealthy St.

The condition of the man is unknown at this time.

    When are people going learn the Grand River is not the place to be taking chances. The fact that he may have been intoxicated only hightened his luck that he got out of there alive. I hope he appreciates life after this.
