SPARTA, Mich. ( April 19, 2014) — It’s been less than a week since a young Sparta mother was killed in a car crash on 13 Mile Road, and on Saturday night her family held a candlelight vigil for her at Rogers Park in Sparta.

Chelsea Traxler, 21,  had a six-year-old daughter and was 22 weeks pregnant with another daughter at the time of her death.

Chelsea’s husband Calvin said that the couple met at the park in the Spring of 2008. He said the moment he met her, he knew she was the love of his life.

Calvin said that July 22nd would have been the couple’s one year wedding anniversary.

Michigan State Police said that Chelsea was killed when her vehicle was traveling on 13 Mile Road and passed through blinking red lights on M-37, and was struck by a truck last Sunday.

“It’s been tough, and not just for me, but for everybody involved. She had a ton of friends and you can tell that from the support that we got at the funeral and the viewing that she was a very great person,” said Calvin Traxler.

Earlier that same day, Chelsea sent out a tweet that said “22 weeks : )”. Calvin said that their daughter Zoey was due in August, and the couple was excited about expanding their family.

Chelsea gave birth to her first daughter Annabelle when she was just 15. Her husband Calvin said that she was the light of both their lives.

“I reached my finger into her stroller and she grabbed it with her whole hand and she smiled at me, and I knew I loved Annabelle then, and me and Chelsea’s relationship just grew,” said Calvin.

Calvin said that Chelsea juggled both work and school,  just to provide for her growing family.

“She was just really strong. You know, anything that she did, she was very driven, ready to tackle the world. There was nothing that was going to stop her and she gave Annabelle so much. Anything to make her happy,” said Calvin.

Not only did she care for her family, Calvin also said that Chelsea would always offer out her helping hand to anyone in need.

“When she was already so busy with work and going to school and being a full time mom, she still had time to help out other people who had problems, you know other moms,” said Calvin.

Since Calvin isn’t Annabelle’s biological father, he said that he plans to legally adopt her.
