Two Vehicle Crash Sends Three People To The Hospital

TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (April 19, 2014)- Three people were taken to a local Grand Rapids hospital after a two vehicle crash in Ottawa County.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriffs Department, an SUV driven by 20-year-old Dezarae Begay of Holland was travelling eastbound on Lake Michigan Drive when she ran the red light and struck a truck that had the right-of-way at 8th Avenue.  That truck was driven by 17-year-old Hunter Powers of Rockford.

The accident happened around 3:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Ms. Begay was taken to a local Grand Rapids hospital with with serious injuries, her passenger a 2-year-old child was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and is listed in fair condition. Mr. Powers was also taken to a local Grand Rapids hospital with serious injuries.

Everyone was wearing their seat belts and the 2-year-old child was in a child seat in the backseat of the SUV.

This accident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriffs Department.
