KENT COUNTY, Mich (April 23, 2014) – As the search continues for the suspects involved in two brazen jewelry store robberies that happened on opposite sides of the state Tuesday, online records indicate three suspects convicted of armed robbery for a heist at one of the locations back in 2010 can’t be responsible for the actual crimes this week.

Online records show Jammie Brown, Renard Mitchell and Tyrone Harbin continue to serve time for armed robbery and other crimes tied to the 2010 armed robbery at Medawar Jewelry in Plainfield Township.

At the time of their arrests, investigators said all three had ties to the Detroit area.  Both Brown and Mitchell were prosecuted in federal court.  Harbin was prosecuted in Kent County Court, who was 17-years-old at the time of the crime.

Online records show Renard Mitchell is currently serving his sentence at a prison facility in Pennsylvania.  Brown is currently serving his sentence in Kansas.  Harbin is serving his time in a prison facility in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The trio held workers at gunpoint while stealing merchandise from Medawar Jewelry in October 2010.  Two of them were arrested shortly after the heist when the green jeep they left in crashed into a condo not far from the jewelry store.  The third was arrested after a nearly four hour manhunt.

Shortly after the 2010 robbery, the owner and his son at Medawar Jewelry opted to take firearms classes to learn how to protect themselves.  Deputies say the pair opened fire on a group of four robbers on Tuesday, hitting one of them near the lung.  That group of suspects, including the suspect that was wounded, remains at-large tonight.
