Recall Roundup: Crossbows Fire Unexpectedly and E-Z-GO Steering Issue

recall roundup 423BETHESDA, Md. (April 23, 2014) — Crossbows that fire arrows unexpectedly, E-Z-GO golf carts and other vehicles with steering issues, and leaf blowers that pose a laceration hazard — they are all the latest items recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

In this week’s Recall Roundup, there is a warning for tens of thousands of E-Z-GO vehicles, due to a steering wheel nut that may not have been tightened all the way.  A specific type of crossbow is being recalled, because it may fire an arrow without warning.  Also, hundreds of thousands of leaf blowers are being recalled because a part can break, posing a laceration hazard.  See below for more information.

Excalibur Crossbow

Excalibur Matrix Mega 405 Crossbows — The crossbow can fire an arrow without the trigger being pulled, posing an injury hazard to the user and to bystanders.  About 1,000 units are impacted in this recall.  Excalibur has received one report of the crossbow firing unexpectedly. E-Z-GO Recall

E-Z-GO Golf carts, shuttles and off-road utility vehicles — The steering wheel nut may not have been tightened sufficiently, reducing the driver’s steering control. This can result in a crash.  About 30,000 units are impacted in this recall.  There has been reported incident in which a passenger suffered a chipped tooth.  Free repairs are available.  Click here for more information on affected models, contact info, etc.

Troy-Bilt Recall

Troy-Bilt Electric Leaf Blowers — The blower’s impeller can break and strike the operator during use, posing a laceration hazard.  About 134,000 units are impacted in this recall.  Manufacturer has received 17 incident reports, including 12 injuries that resulted in lacerations requiring stitches, cuts and bruises.  Free replacements are available.  Click here for more information on this recall.
