HOLLAND, Mich. – Bagger Dave’s has scheduled a benefit for the seven Van Houten children after the sudden loss of their father.
Ben Van Houten passed away from a heart attack this month after putting a trampoline in the yard for the kids.
The family became nationally known after their mother delivered sextuplets in 2004. The family later expanded with the birth of another child.

After sudden death of father of seven, Bagger Dave’s fundraisercreated to aid family
HOLLAND, Mich. – Bagger Dave’s, a unique, full-service, ultra-casual restaurant and full bar, will host a benefit to help the Van Houten children who recently suffered the unexpected loss of their father, Ben Van Houten. The event is planned for 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, at the restaurant’s Holland location, 3333 West Shore Drive.
Bagger Dave’s, known for its fresh, never frozen approach to food and prime rib recipe burgers, will donate 15 percent of the day’s sales to the Van Houten Children’s Trust that has been established for the children.
Ben Van Houten of Hamilton, Mich., was the father of seven children, including a set of sextuplets. When the sextuplets were born in 2004, the family made news headlines as the state’s first surviving bundle of six babies. Reports indicate Van Houten passed away from a heart attack at the age of 39 after setting up a trampoline for his children.
“As a father of three children this tragedy hit me very close to home,” said Michael Ansley, Bagger Dave’s CEO. “We’re part of the Holland community and wanted to do our part to ease the burden for this family now and in the future. Every little bit will make a difference. ”
