VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich (April 26, 2014) – Charges have been filed against an Illinois man accused of dragging a Portage Officer during a police chase that spanned more than 90 miles and lasted nearly an hour earlier this month.

Online records show 23-year-old Traison Watson faces multiple felony charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon and fleeing and eluding police.  He was arraigned shortly after his arrest on April 15 and will be back in court in the coming days.

Watson was taken into custody near the Indiana border after wrecking the vehicle he was driving trying to take an exit off I-94 at a high rate of speed.  Several law enforcement agencies pursued his vehicle after it took off from a Target store in Portage after police were called to investigate a fraud complaint.  A woman with Watson has also been charged in the case.
