BOSTON, Mass. (April 26, 2014) — After the first period of Thursday’s game at Joe Louis Arena, the Detroit Red Wings looked to be on their way to tying their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Boston Bruins at two games apiece.

Five periods and an overtime later, the Red Wings’ season is over.

Tuukka Rask stopped 31 shots and the Bruins added an empty-netter after Detroit pulled Jonas Gustavsson out of goal late for a 4-2 Boston win Saturday, winning the series four games to one.

Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg scored goals for the Red Wings, who will now send some of their young players down to Grand Rapids for the AHL postseason.
