BombEMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (April 27, 2014)- The Battle Creek Bomb Squad had to be called out Sunday morning to handle an artillery shell.

According to the Battle Creek Police Department, the bomb squad was called out around 11:30 a.m. after a resident living in the 12000 block of Beadle Lake Road discovered a artillery shell inside their home.

The woman living inside the home was going through her deceased fiance’s belongings and found the artillery shell, according to Emmett Township Department of Public Service officials.

The markings on the shell indicate that it was from the WWII/Korean War era.

This comes five after the Battle Creek Bomb Squad detonated a Vietnam-era anti-tank round in the area of East Avenue and Roosevelt.

The Battle Creek City Police Bomb Squad took possession of the shell and destroyed it.
