KALAMAZOO, Mich. (April 27, 2014)- Two people were shot after a fight broke out in Kalamazoo on Sunday.

It happened at a home in the 700 block of Trimble Avenue, about a mile and a half from downtown Kalamazoo.  The two victims were taken to a nearby hospital.  One was treated and released for a wound to the foot and the other was listed in stable condition after being shot in the back, according to the Kalamazoo Public Safety Department.

The road was shut down for about an hour while crews conducted their investigation. It’s not clear what led up to the fight but public safety officers said several people ran from the home.

As of 9:30 p.m. no one was in police custody.

FOX 17 spoke with a man who said he’s lived on Trimble Avenue for about 12 years and  that he was in the upper level of his home when shots were fired.

“That house is right on the corner and it is a rental and people just moved in, they moved in from Chicago,” Robert Schultz, who lives on Trimble Avenue said. “You hear gun shots a lot and it’s a sad state of affairs but it’s there and I wish it wasn’t, but it is.”
