missing joseph taylorVAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (April 28, 2014) — A Van Buren County teen who has been missing for a week has been located in the Kalamazoo County Jail.

FOX 17 News was interviewing the family of 17-year-old Joseph Daniel Taylor in their Mattawan area home Monday morning when the family received the news over the phone that their son had been found.

Taylor was located in Kalamazoo City and is currently lodged in Van Buren County Jail on a warrant stemming from the dispute with his mother on Monday April 21.

In a news release, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department said Monday afternoon, “He was arrested on the warrant from Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to VBC sheriff deputies.  The subject will be scheduled to be arraigned later this afternoon or tomorrow morning.  Taylor was fine and there were no issues.  The nature of the warrant will not be released until the subject is arraigned.”

Deputies said Taylor was last seen at 48601 24th Street, in Antwerp Twp. around 6:30 p.m. on April 21.

On that day, Sheriff Dale R. Gribler said that Deputy Loren Tarner responded to that location because Taylor had gotten into an argument with his mother and left.  Several hours passed and the teen did not return, police added.  Taylor’s parents were concerned for his well-being because he is on prescribed medications that he is supposed to take daily and he did not take them when he left, or even a change of clothing, authorities added.

Ok So let me get this right he has been missing and the police were looking for him but did not check computers for records of Jails or Hospitals? Then people wonder why they have a hard time finding a Loved one and then on top of that they do not notify the Parents as he is still a Juvenal Also why is a child being held in an adult jail he is a minor?

Maybe the teen didn't tell the police who he was or that he was a minor, and maybe if he doesn't have a record he was not in the system. I'm glad he's been found, and he's ok.

At 17 he is not a minor in the eyes of criminal justice system in Michigan. He is considered being an adult, thereby no need to contact his parents.

Even so, did he not get an opportunity to make a phone call? It took my son 22 hours to get one and as far as medication… they will NOT give it to them. Try all you want… it is not important to them.

So the whole story has now turned as he was wanted on a warrant for what happened with his mother. As for phones calls and Meds they will give them but there is 1 catch and that is WHEN AND IF THEY WANT TO..Once you are behind bars you are at there mercy and they dont care about anything as once there you are GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT AND ALL ARE TREATED THEM SAME LIKE CRAP.
I mean when I was there a few times there would be 8 to 10 people in a cell designed for 4 .They cant do everything especially when they have a bug up there —.
