VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (April 28, 2014) — A Van Buren County teen who has been missing for a week has been located in the Kalamazoo County Jail.

FOX 17 News was interviewing the family of 17-year-old Joseph Daniel Taylor in their Mattawan area home Monday morning when the family received the news over the phone that their son had been found.

Taylor was located in Kalamazoo City and is currently lodged in Van Buren County Jail on a warrant stemming from the dispute with his mother on Monday April 21.

In a news release, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department said Monday afternoon, “He was arrested on the warrant from Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to VBC sheriff deputies.  The subject will be scheduled to be arraigned later this afternoon or tomorrow morning.  Taylor was fine and there were no issues.  The nature of the warrant will not be released until the subject is arraigned.”

Deputies said Taylor was last seen at 48601 24th Street, in Antwerp Twp. around 6:30 p.m. on April 21.

On that day, Sheriff Dale R. Gribler said that Deputy Loren Tarner responded to that location because Taylor had gotten into an argument with his mother and left.  Several hours passed and the teen did not return, police added.  Taylor’s parents were concerned for his well-being because he is on prescribed medications that he is supposed to take daily and he did not take them when he left, or even a change of clothing, authorities added.
