ALLENDALE, Mich (May 1, 2014) —  A non-profit organization at Grand Valley State University called S.P.O.R.T.S. is offering kids, that might otherwise not have the opportunity, the chance to learn through sports.

S.P.O.R.T.S. (students providing opportunities and recreations through sports) was founded by Tyler Kinch, a student at GVSU.  They set up camps that involve sports and allow kids to participate.  “Basically we want to create an environment for them to learn and grow as individuals, find their values or whatever it may be and hopefully give them the opportunity we had when we were kids and got to play sports”  Kinch said.

Kinch has already ran 2 camps in Grand Rapids and said the support from fellow students has been overwhelming.  “It allows them to make it their own, we will help fund it and help get more volunteers if you need it and it’s your own thing”  Kinch added.

San Diego State has also gotten on board and ran a camp in Southern California and Kinch believes that more schools around the country will also be getting involved.
