Shots Fired Near YMCA; Suspect Arrested at York Creek Apartments

York Creek policeKENT COUNTY, Mich. (May 1, 2014) — The suspect in an attempted drive-by shooting near the YMCA in downtown Grand Rapids has been taken into custody.

Grand Rapids Police said the shooting happened Thursday at about 12:30 p.m.

The intended target of the shooting helped identify the suspect and the vehicle they were in, police said.

The shooting suspect and one other person were taken into custody at York Creek Apartments, 650 York Creek Dr. in Comstock Park.

Both GRPD and the Kent County Sheriff’s Department responded to the apartments.

The suspect will be identified pending formal charges.  FOX 17 will have the latest information on this investigation on the air starting at 5 p.m.

    The two individuals apprehended at York Creek in relation to this shooting were not residents or known occupants of the apartment.
