KALAMAZOO, Mich. (May 8, 2014) — A Kalamazoo Public Safety officer shot and killed a pit bull Thursday while on the scene of an assault complaint, according to a release.

Officers were in the 1600 block of Lay Boulevard at about 6:50 p.m. investigating the complaint.

The release says a pit bull came out of the front door and charged at an officer while they were attempting to make contact with the resident of the home.

The officer shot the dog three times after it bit them in the leg, according to the release.

The officer was treated at Bronson Hospital and released.

Unless they gave the resident warning (and time to put the dog away), it is his fault and deserves to be gnawed on.

But there will of course be no charges or even reprimand, even if they gave no warning… because, well, he is a cop.
