In October, the family of Floyd said that they were in a state of shock after seeing Floyd an hour before the young father was gunned down.

“I loved my cousin. We did everything. I was just with him that night. He was just so sweet,” said Stacie Kelly, Floyd’s cousin.

Kelly said that Floyd had taken her to a concert for her birthday earlier in the evening that Wednesday.

Police told FOX 17 that Floyd was outside the restaurant on the corner of Division and Franklin when a 20-year-old man approached him with a gun, attempting to rob Floyd. That’s when a man standing next to Floyd pulled out his firearm, striking and killing the robbery suspect.  Seconds later, someone else in the crowd retaliated by shooting Floyd.

Floyd’s father David said that his son had a heart of gold, and was always willing to help a family member in need.

“He’s gone. He’s dead. My son is dead. For what? What’s the most he could have gotten? $200 or $300 dollars? Is that what life is worth?” asked David Floyd.

Floyd’s older brother also suffered the same fate after he was shot and killed in 1999 in Eastown.
