LANSING, Mich., (May 13, 2014) – Investigators in Lansing and East Lansing have released the names of the two men shot and killed Monday.

According to Lansing Police, Michael Addo, 35, of Mason, MI was shot in the face after the accused gunman entered the Rite Aid store where Addo worked shortly after 11 a.m.

“[The suspect] did not go there to rob the business, he did not go there to steal money or drugs,” Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski told FOX 17 News. “There was some sort of verbal confrontation that led to gun violence unfortunately.”

Yankowski added that it appears the suspect had not met Addo prior to the deadly encounter.

A second victim, Jordan Daniel Rogers, 27, of East Lansing was shot and killed at his home in the 1800 block of Coolidge Road.

Captain Jeff Murphy with the East Lansing Police Department said Rogers was the next-door-neighbor of the suspect. It’s not clear what type of previous relationship the two had, if any.

The suspect’s name will not be released until he’s charged. Police are continuing to build a case to send to the Ingham County Prosecutor, but say the accused gunman could be arraigned as early as Wednesday.
