Chuck Furman, WGVU Leader Passes Away At The Age Of 73

GVSU guyALLENDALE, Mich. (May 17, 2014)- The Grand Valley State University community is remembering the life of Chuck Furman who passed away on Friday at the age of 73.

According to Grand Valley State University, Furman started his broadcasting career at Bowling Green State University where he was a manager for WBGU. In 1972 Furman moved to Grand Rapids to help start WGVU. Eight years later, Furman was named assistant general manager in charge of community relations. A position he held until he retired in 2005.

In 2006, Furman was inducted into the Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Chuck Furman leaves behind his wife Judy and their two sons, David and Daniel.
