PORTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (May 17, 2014)- Two people had to be taken to the hospital Friday night after a single car crash in Cass County.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened on Baldwin Prairie Road just north of Chapel Hill Street in Porter Township. The vehicle driven by 53-year-old Michael Dudkiewicz of Vandalia attempted to miss a deer in the roadway when he lost control of the vehicle, running off the road and striking several trees.

Both the driver and his passenger 24-year-old James Dudkiewicz were transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

Seat belts were worn at the time of the crash. Deputies say that alcohol is a factor in this crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s office.
