One Dead After Fatal Car Crash in Hartford

hartford fatalHARTFORD, Mich. (May 24, 2014)–Michigan State Police and Hartford Police are still investigating a car crash that happened at around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

The driver, 22-year-old Juan Carlos Meza Jr. of Dowagiac Michigan, was found dead on the scene after his Dodge Avenger left the road and crashed into a tree. The crash happened on 63rd Street near the dead end of I-94. Meza was believed to be traveling southbound on 63rd Street when he crashed.

The car caught on fire, and police do not know if Meza was wearing his seat belt or if alcohol was a factor of the crash.

Meza’s car was the only one involved in the accident.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
