GALESBURG, Mich. — A man is being sought after the PNC Bank was robbed Thursday afternoon.

According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, at about 2 p.m. Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a bank robbery at the PNC Bank, which is located at 84 W. Michigan Ave. in this northeastern Kalamazoo County community.

Undersheriff Paul Matyas said a man walked into the bank brandishing a gun. After obtaining a small amount of cash, he ran to a getaway vehicle parked nearby in the Galesburg United Methodist parking lot.

The department later said the suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build, wearing a brown zip-up hoodie, a brown ball cap with a brown towel underneath, a black T shirt, tan pants, dark shoes and brown aviator-style sunglasses and armed with a handgun.

He was also carrying a blue messenger style bag with a light colored strap.

The vehicle was described as a small to midsize blue four-door car driven by a second person and which fled west of West Battle Creek Street.

Nobody is in custody yet. However, Matyas said detectives are “actively working leads.”

Anybody with any information about the robbery is being asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at (269) 383-8723 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
