GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (May 29, 2014) — There is one final way to remember those who currently serve our country as well as our veterans this week.

The United Veterans Council of Kent County will hold its Memorial Day Parade Friday, May 30.

The event begins with an assembly at 7 pm, followed by the parade at 7:30 pm. It will begin at Division Avenue, just north of the Michigan Street overpass and head south on Division Avenue to Fulton Street. The parade will end at Veterans Memorial Park.

It’s open to military and semi-military organizations, chartered Veterans and patriotic groups, police and fire units, Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Drill Teams, Sheriff Posse and the like.

When Memorial Day was established, it was observed every year on May 30.
