Michigan Eighth Grade Teacher Suspended Over Lesson Plan On Segregation

MONROE, Mich. (May 31, 2014)- An eighth grade teacher in Monroe has been removed from the classroom, while the Monroe Public School district looks into his lesson plan on African American History and racial segregation laws was inappropriate.

The Monroe News is reporting that 59-year-old Alan Barron, and eighth grad teacher at Monroe Middle School was placed on paid administrative leave two weeks ago.

The newspaper also reports that an eighth grade history class was shown a video of how white entertainers once used black face paint to imitate blacks.

Barron has taught in the Monroe Public School district for 36 years.
