Boat Capsizes With Husband And Wife On Board; Husband Goes Under

Sherrif on lakeOAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (June 7,2014)- A man died Saturday morning after the boat he and his wife were in capsized on Morgan Lake in Kent County.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department, around 11 a.m. Saturday morning a 53-year-old Grand Rapids man and his wife were fishing in a small aluminum row boat on Morgan Lake when the man shifted positions in the boat and the boat capsized.

The man and his wife both fell into the water.

Deputies say that the two of them tried to get back into the boat, but the husband went under water and never surfaced.

The wife was able to grab a flotation device and swim to shore before calling for help.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
