court generic pictureMOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (June 10, 2014) — Central Michigan University Professor Robert Dale Lee was arrested last week after allegedly shooting at door-to-door vacuum salesmen with a shotgun, according to CM Life.

Lee, 61, was arraigned on charges of felonious assault and carrying a firearm with unlawful intent, according to the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department.   He was released from custody after posting bond.

The alleged incident happened the evening of June 5 when two salesmen approached the professor’s residence in the 6000 block of S. Vandecar Road, officials said in a release.

According to court documents obtained by CM Life, Lee gestured them to wait and then went behind his garage.

The salesmen decided to leave, and Lee allegedly fired two shots at them as they were driving away in a van.  According to a release, there was a total of three people in the van.

No injuries were reported.  CM Life says that alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident.

Lee is still listed on CMU’s website as a professor in Human Environmental Studies.
