michaelsWALKER, Mich. (June 11, 2014) — Wouldn’t it be nice if every kid could buy their deserving dad a brand new Corvette? Instead of focusing on how much to spend, Michaels Stores can help your little on come up with a wonderful gift made from their tiny little hands at very little cost.

Kendra Page, Customer Experience Manager with the Alpine Avenuelocation, joined me in the FOX17 studio with three very affordable ideas. For a complete list of other ideas, click here. All summer long, Michaels will have classesthat cost only $2 for 2 hours.

Every half hour, from 10 a.m. until Noon this Saturday, June 14, for just $2 per child, while you shop, kids can get creative in the Kids Clubclasses. This week, they will be making a Father’s Day Wood Frame, similar to the first one you see in the photo. That cost covers supplies needed, as well.

Father’s Day Hipster Plaque (seen in center with glasses and mustache) : (this can also be done in the form of a paperweight)

Supplies needed:

  • Pre-cut wood plaque from Michaels ($2)
  • Scrapbook paper (on sale this week, six sheets for $1)
  • Mod Podge(can get for as little as $3.49/bottle)
  • Foam brush (very inexpensive)
  • Crayola Model Magic Clay($8.99 for variety pack)
  • Acrylic paint (if you would like to paint the edges of natural colored wood plaque) $1-$3/bottle
  • Sand paper, to smooth edges after trimming and placing scrap book paper on plaque
  • (See attached picture for final product)

Creatology Personalized Mug Kit: $1.50

Creatology Personalized Plate: $5

Connect Picture Frames together for a collage:  Michaels has some picture frames for as little as $1 or they sell this one, for around $11.99. Snap pictures of each of your children a sign or letter that makes up a phrase and then put them accordingly into each frame.
