WYOMING, Mich., (June 11, 2014) — Community members had the opportunity to go on a “virtual ride-along” Wednesday as part of the Wyoming Department of Public Safety’s first tweetalong.

From 10am-3pm, Officers Kelli Duimstra and Margo Clark tweeted during their shift to give the public a glimpse into what they do on a daily basis. Participants were asked to follow @WyomingCityHall and use #WyDPS and #tweetalong in their tweets.

“It’s a first step for us to grow our presence on social media,” said Officer Clark.”Facebook and Twitter are platforms as a department that we want to use more…The main thing that we wanted to do with this event is connect to the community.”

Officer Duimstra said the city gained a quite a few more followers, as people took part in the event. The pair also got plenty of feedback and questions online.

The city of Wyoming hopes to hold more tweetalongs, and encourages people to follow @WyomingCityHall everyday for news and information.
