061614trackWEST MICHIGAN — (June 16, 2014) Storms developing in the Central Plains will rapidly move east overnight bringing the potential for some strong to severe storms after midnight.

Severe storms in the Central Plains Monday afternoon and evening produced tornadoes that tore through parts of Nebraska and Iowa. The storms even produced twin tornadoes that heavily damaged the town of Pilger, Nebraska.

These storms will weaken tonight and move east into West Michigan. Storms will likely reach Lake Michigan after midnight and impact the Lakeshore around 4 to 5 in the morning. Storms that move into West Michigan will be weakened slightly by Lake Michigan but still have the opportunity to produce gusty straight line winds, large hail and torrential rains. The tornadic threat is very unlikely but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

FOX17 will continue to monitor and track these storms overnight and bring you updates on FOX17 News, Facebook and Twitter.
