NORMAN, Okla. (June 17, 2014) — A lack of storm development has prompted the cancellation of the tornado watch that was in effect for much of northern Illinois.  More storms are still possible later in the day.

From earlier:

The Storm Prediction Center has posted a Tornado Watch for parts of southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, in effect until 10:00 A.M. Michigan time Tuesday morning.  The watch box extends into a small part of northwest Indiana and over Lake Michigan.

Some of the information from the Storm Prediction Center:

“PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE…   A COUPLE TORNADOES POSSIBLE;  SCATTERED DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED SIGNIFICANT GUSTS TO 75 MPH POSSIBLE.  REMEMBER…A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.”

One line of storms was already moving through West Michigan early Tuesday morning, with the air becoming increasingly warm and humid.  Check out interactive radar and the full forecast anytime on the Weather page.
