PORTLAND, Mich. (June 18, 2014) — Crews from several departments responded to a house fire in Ionia County early Wednesday morning, that was the result of a lightning strike.
It happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. at a home on Union Street near Grand River Avenue. Dispatchers say the home was “fairly well-involved” with flames when firefighters arrived. There was one woman inside at the time, and she made it out safely.
Four departments ended up responding to the scene. Firefighters say the home is likely a total loss.
