Two Teens Shot in Downtown Grand Rapids; No Suspect in Custody

ioniaGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (June 18, 2014) — Two teenagers suffered what police describe as serious injuries, the victims of a shooting downtown early Wednesday morning.

Everything happened shortly after midnight near Buffalo Wild Wings on Ionia near Fulton.  Police say a group of 15-20 people had gathered in the area, when shots rang out.  A 16-year-old and 17-year-old, both males, were struck.  The younger of the two victims sustained severe injuries, which were said to be life-threatening at one point.  The older of the two suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Witnesses say one of the victims was shot in the chest.

Police believe there is only one suspect, described as a male wearing dark clothing.  Officers and detectives closed a portion of Ionia Avenue down while investigating the shooting and speaking with witnesses.
