WYOMING, Mich. (June 28, 2014) — A man working at Grand Rapids Plastic was killed after a machine suddenly turned on.

Russel Sharenbroch, 34, leaves behind a wife and kids.

A large crowd gathered to pay tribute to Sharenbroch on Saturday night at Grand Rapids Plastic. Friends and family lit candles and exchanged stories.

The crowd quickly grew to more than 100 people.

Sharenbroch’s family said that he got called into work early on Friday and was hoping to prove himself to his bosses so he could eventually get a promotion.

Sharenbroch’s family said that Russel was a great father and was the sole provider for the family.

Friends said that he never spoke ill of anyone.

Sharenbroch’s wife Angel came out to Saturday night’s vigil, but we were told she was too overwhelmed by the large group that gathered to actually walk up to the crowd.

“She was happy that everyone showed up. It just caught her by surprise on how many people did show up. It just overwhelmed her, but today she wanted to pay tribute to him by bringing his picture. She even wore his work shirt,” said Lynne Dahlke, Angel’s aunt.

“You look at some people and you can just tell you know the way they come off to you every time. Some people are just good people. He is a great father. I’ve seen him around those kids. I’ve seen him around my sister,” said Aaron Dalman, Sharenbock’s brother-in-law.

The family said that they have planned a benefit at Counsin’s Bar in Grand Rapids on July 19th at 1 p.m.to help with expenses.
