Wyoming Man Dies After Accident At A Plastics Facility

WYOMING, Mich. (June 28, 2014)- A 34-year-old Wyoming man died on Friday after an industrial accident at Grand Rapids Plastics Inc.

According to the Wyoming Police Department, 34-year-old Russel Scharenbroch was cleaning a press around 5 p.m. Friday afternoon when the machine was accidentally turned on, killing him.

Mr. Scharenbroch worked at Grand Rapids Plastics Inc. since December of 2009 as a process technician according to his Facebook page.

Grand Rapids Plastics Inc. has had eight OSHA violations since September of 2010, five of which were labeled as serious violations. Three of those serious violations happened in February of 2014.

Grand Rapids Plastics sent a statement to FOX 17 which says,  “The families at Grand Rapids Plastics are mourning today the tragic accidental death of Russel Scharenbroch. Russel was a valued member of our employee-family and words cannot express our sorrow. We would ask the community to pray with us for Russel’s  wife, Angel, and their family and our  employees who are suffering too. May God be with all of us in this terribly sad time.”
