GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (July 2, 2014) — We’re over halfway through 2014 already! Here is a monthly look at some weather normals in July, some records that exist, and the change in length of daylight.

TEMPERATURES: Normal highs this month are at 83 degrees through the 24th, then fall to 82 for the remainder of the month. Normal lows are 61 degrees on the 1st and 2nd, then 62 for the rest of July. The record high is 108, set on the 13th in 1936. The record low is 41, set on the 6th in 1983.

RAINFALL: There is normally 3.78″ of rain in July. The wettest July was in 1992, when Grand Rapids received 8.83″. The driest was in 1894, with just 0.25″.

LENGTH OF DAYLIGHT: Here is a look at the sunrise, sunset, and length of daylight:

  • 1st:  Sunrise 6:08, Sunset 9:25, Length of daylight 15 hours and 17 minutes.
  • 31st:  Sunrise 6:33, Sunset 9:05, Length of daylight 14 hours and 32 minutes.

This results in a loss of 45 minutes of daylight.
